Our History
Chiredzi Sub-Catchment Council (CSCC) is a statutory water management body in Zimbabwe established by an Act of Parliament; Water Act (Chapter 20:24) of 1998, as read with SI 47 of 2000 and their amendments where they are mandated to carry out water resources management through a stakeholder participation approach under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries, and Rural Development.
Chiredzi Sub Catchment Council (C.S.C.C) is found under Runde Catchment. Its area of jurisdiction covers the drainage basin (catchment area) of Chiredzi River which stretches from part of Bikita District, large part of Zaka District and part of Chiredzi District as well.
C.S.C.C is made up of diverse stakeholders which includes domestic and commercial groundwater users, Communal Farmers, small-scale commercial farmers, Large Scale Commercial Farmers, Light Industries, Heavy Industries, Rural District Councils, Town Council, Wildlife Conservancies, Institutions, Mines and any other stakeholder group deemed necessary by the respective Sub-Catchment Council.
